What are the Best Locations To Photograph in Paris
Paris is known for its iconic and photogenic landmarks that attract photographers and tourists from around the world. Here are some of the most photogenic locations in Paris:
Eiffel Tower: This is perhaps the most iconic symbol of Paris and a must-visit for any photographer. Capture the tower from different angles and at different times of the day—from sunrise to sunset.
Louvre Museum: Besides housing world-famous art collections, the Louvre's exterior, especially the glass pyramid, makes for striking photographs, particularly against the backdrop of the historic museum buildings.
Montmartre: This historic district is famous for its artistic heritage, charming streets, and the iconic Sacré-Cœur Basilica. Climb the steps for a panoramic view of Paris and capture the picturesque streets below.
Metro System: Paris has many beautiful subway stops to photograph. Exploring these metro stops can be a very photographically rich way to spend part of a day.
Notre-Dame Cathedral: Although it suffered a fire in 2019, Notre-Dame remains a significant architectural and cultural landmark. Photograph the exterior and nearby areas along the Seine River. The Cathedral is scheduled to open by the end of 2024.
Seine River: The river itself is photogenic, whether you're capturing it from one of the many bridges that cross it or from a river cruise. Sunset is a particularly beautiful time to photograph the Seine.
Tuileries Garden: Located near the Louvre, these formal gardens are perfect for capturing Parisian elegance, especially during spring and summer when the flowers are in bloom.
Champs-Élysées and Arc de Triomphe: The wide avenue leading up to the Arc de Triomphe is iconic, particularly when illuminated at night. Capture the bustling street life and the majestic arch.
Sainte-Chapelle: This Gothic chapel is renowned for its stunning stained glass windows. Capture the intricate colors and designs of the glass.
Pont Alexandre III: This ornate bridge over the Seine River is a favourite among photographers, especially for its Art Nouveau style and golden accents.
Palais-Royal: Known for its beautiful gardens and striped columns (les colonnes de Buren), Palais-Royal offers a unique and photogenic spot in central Paris.
Remember that Paris is a city that comes alive in different lights and seasons, so explore these locations at different times of day and throughout the year to capture their full beauty. Additionally, don't be afraid to explore beyond the main landmarks; Paris is full of charming streets, cafes, and hidden corners waiting to be discovered and photographed.
