2025 Sea-Bird Colonies of Newfoundland
Join us for our 10th season of leading this wildlife adventure along the dramatic coastline of Newfoundland. Your workshop will focus on the beautiful sea birds that come there to nest for the season. You will be visiting seabird colonies of thousands of Northern Gannets, Common Murres, and the clowns of the sea, the Atlantic Puffin. We will be visiting two separate locations to view and photograph these amazing birds. There will be no shortage of opportunities and we will be there to guide you to get the most from your trip.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
Incredible wildlife in locations with dramatic coastal views
You will be staying in the areas where we will be doing most of our photography.
We will provide transportation which includes pickup and drop-off at the St. Johns airport.
The days are long here in the summer. Expect to be up as early as 5:00am and getting back to our hotel sometimes as late as 10:00pm.
The walks to the photography locations for the bird colonies are on paths that can be as long as 1mile.
Lots of fun, inspiration by two pro photographers, and a healthy mixture of quality, and quantity of wildlife images.

Why Join This workshop
On this tour, we will visit locations where there are more birds than you probably will ever see at one time! The photographic opportunities for portrait and birds in flight photography are some of, if not the best in the world. And we will work hard to ensure we meet each of our clients at their level, providing ample 1 on 1 time while we are in the field and in front of the computer. Because of all these reasons, we promise a unique and engaging learning experience for photographers of all levels on this tour.
Itinerary
Day One – Arrive at any time today to St. John’s, Newfoundland. We’ll meet in the evening for a group dinner and a presentation on photographing in the areas where we will be visiting.
Day Two – Three – These two days are dedicated to photographing the most accessible Northern Gannet colony in North America. You will be photographing thick-billed Murres, common murres and one of the largest colonies of northern gannets in North America.
Day Four – Five – During these two days we will be visiting an area called Elliston. Here we will be photographing Puffins, Common Murres. Humpback Whales and hopefully icebergs. We will be visiting the Puffin colony multiple times each day. We will also charter a private boat to take you out to see whales, and hopefully some of the floating behemoth icebergs that are floating down from Greenland.
Day Six – After an early morning photoshoot at the Puffin colony we will take you back to the airport in St Johns to catch your afternoon flight home. You could also join us on our landscape tour of Newfoundland. See the details of that workshop here.
